Preschool Essentials

Gearing up for back-to-school? Don’t forget the little ones! Because we rarely see a list for preschool-aged children, here is list of developmentally and age-appropriate items to help get them excited about entering their early learning setting.

  • Backpack (not too large)
  • Pencil bag or box
  • Construction paper
  • A pair of child-safe scissors (blunt tip)
  • Crayons
  • Washable markers
  • Non-toxic glue or glue sticks
  • Color pencils
  • Watercolor paint
  • Kleenex
  • Paper towels
  • Copy paper
  • Your child’s favorite book (write name in inside sleeve)

Remember to your child at least 30 minutes a day and encourage them to share their favorite parts of the book with you. Take a look at some of the titles Books-A-Million’s list of 50 books to read by the time you’re 5.
