Developmental delay means that a child is delayed in some development which includes cognitive, physical, communication, social and emotional development.
While it is true that each child learns and experiences things at their own pace, developmental milestones can be a guide for parents to indicate the typical skills that infants, toddlers and young children learn by certain ages.
If you are concerned about your child’s development, DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK A PROFESSIONAL. We recommend talking to your child’s pediatrician or getting in contact with our Inclusion Services department.
Our Inclusion Services team will them schedule an observation, consult with child care staff and discuss suggestions for treatment. If further intervention is determined to be needed, both the child care center and parents will be provided with resources and referrals to address concerns outlined from the observation.
The earlier concerns are addressed, the sooner professionals and parents can strategize and do what’s best for their child’s success.
