Orlando, FL –The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County (ELCOC) has successfully concluded its 2026 Diaper Drive, collecting 48,084 diapers to support families in need across Orange County.
The eight-week community campaign began January 12, 2026. It included online giving through Amazon and an in-person diaper drop-off event at the Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center in Orlando on Saturday, March 7. The momentum built throughout the final days of the drive:
- By Friday, March 6, the drive had collected 26,911 diapers.
- On Saturday, March 7, community members donated 10,620 diapers during the drop-off event.
- Over the weekend, 6,819 additional diapers arrived through Amazon shipments.
That brought the running total to 44,350 diapers, and donations continued arriving after the event, bringing the final total to 48,084 diapers, well above the community goal of 40,000.
On Tuesday, March 10, ELCOC CEO Dr. Scott Fritz delivered a truck filled with diapers to the Central Florida Diaper in Winter Garden. “Every baby deserves the comfort and dignity of a clean diaper,” said Dr. Fritz. “We are incredibly grateful to our community partners and donors who helped us exceed our goal. Their generosity will make a real difference for families across Orange County who are working hard to provide for their children.”
ELCOC partnered with several community organizations to make the 2026 Diaper Drive a success, including:
- Orange County Public Schools
- Orange County Head Start
- Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Orlando Alumnae Chapter
- City of Orlando Commissioner Bakari F. Burns, District 6
- Representative Anna V. Eskamani, Florida State House District 42
- Saint Mark AME Church
- ELCOC Board Members and Staff
Diapers remain a basic but costly necessity for many families. While programs like the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) help families with food and nutrition, they do not cover diapers. Community efforts like the ELCOC Diaper Drive help fill that gap and support families during the critical early years of a child’s development.
