ELCOC to Host 4th Annual “Slide into Summer Safari” Family Event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orlando, FL — The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County (ELCOC) will host its 4th annual “Slide into Summer” Family Services event on Saturday, May 16, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Avenue Neighborhood Center in Orlando.
This year’s theme, “Slide into Summer Safari,” will transform the center’s gym into an immersive rainforest environment. Families with children from infancy to age five can participate in interactive, safari-themed learning activities designed to support early childhood development.
The event will provide the first 300 families in attendance with LeapFrog LeapPad Academy Kids Learning Tablets, along with educational toys and books. Each family will receive a take-home bag filled with resources to encourage continued learning during the summer months.
Summer learning loss, often referred to as the “summer slide,” occurs when children lose skills gained during the school year. ELCOC’s annual event is designed to help families address this challenge with practical tools and engaging activities.
“This event gives families simple and effective ways to keep their children learning throughout the summer,” said Dr. Scott Fritz, CEO of the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County. “The early years are critical for brain development. Consistent, high-quality learning experiences help build a strong foundation for long-term success. ‘Slide into Summer’ is our largest annual event, and we are proud to continue supporting families in this way.”
In addition to educational activities, attendees will have access to a wide range of community resources. Free refreshments will also be available.
The event is made possible through the support of community partners and sponsors, including AdventHealth for Children, West Lakes Early Learning Center, Beyond Simply Fit, Big Chill Effect, Central Florida Help Me Grow Florida, Central Florida Early Steps, Discount School Supply, Gardner Media, Lakeshore Learning Materials, Mindful Play Learning, Nemours Children’s Health, Orange County Head Start, Orange County Public Schools Pre-K ESE, City of Orlando Families, Parks and Recreation, Orange County Library System, Orlando Science Center, O2B Kids, Rosen JCC Learning Center, UnlockEd Learning Program, and 4 Rivers Smokehouse.
The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County is committed to strengthening families and increasing access to high-quality early learning opportunities to prepare children for lifelong success. For more information about ELCOC programs and upcoming events, visit ELCOC.org.
