ELCOC Exceeds Diaper Drive Goal, Collecting 49,494 Diapers for Orange County Families

Orlando, FL – The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County (ELCOC) is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of its annual Diaper Drive, surpassing its original goal of 30,000 diapers by an impressive 65%. Thanks to the generosity of the community, ELCOC collected 49,494 diapers, all of which will be donated to the Central Florida Diaper Bank to support families in need.
Babies require up to 3,000 diapers in their first year alone, and families often struggle to afford this basic necessity. Additionally, pull-ups are essential during toilet training, helping young children transition to being diaper-free.
This year’s Diaper Drive kicked off on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, and provided multiple ways for donors to contribute. ELCOC created an Amazon Wish List with the most needed sizes, allowing supporters to ship diapers directly to ELCOC offices. Community members also participated in the Diaper Drive Drop-Off event on Saturday, February 22nd at the Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center.
The success of this initiative would not have been possible without ELCOC’s dedicated community partners, including:
- Orange County Head Start
- Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Orlando Alumnae Chapter
- Representative Anna V. Eskamani, Florida State House District 42
- City of Orlando Commissioner Bakari F. Burns, District 6
- Bubbalou's Bodacious Bar-B-Que - Altamonte Springs
- Saint Mark AME Church
- BJ’s Wholesale Club
- Costco Wholesale Club
- ELCOC Board Members and Staff
“Meeting this milestone reflects the generosity and compassion of our community,” said Dr. Scott Fritz, CEO of the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County, “These diapers will make a meaningful difference for Orange County families.”
